What type of dog is best for my family?

Hello I know other people have asked this question sorry! I have 2 children aged 3 & 4 I live in a house with a small garden and we are thinking about getting a family dog. I like small terrier type dogs like westies but my partner likes bigger dogs like german shepherds. We are looking for a dog which would be friendly and easy to train and hopefully get on with young children and cats. I would also prefer an easy to care for dog which doesn't need constant attention and grooming. Thank you for your help.

Mandy P - I didn't mean that the dog would get no attention it would have to contend with two kids. I mean I want dog who will go settle down not barking and running around all the time.

Hopefully you are looking for the dog that I have in my home. I have German Shepherd at my home and I think you also need to have the same dog. This dog is the best dog I have petted ever. German Shepherd is the dog who can learn fast and is obedience to you. If you have idea of Dog Training than I don't think you need to take it to a dog training center. And I am sure this dog will guard your house very well.

You should get a Havanese. They are small dogs 7-13 kg and 8-11 inches . They are great with young children unlike many breeds of toy companies. When we had a cat of my Havanese loved to play with her. They also do not litter.

In my point of view those dogs Havanese, Japanese speech dogs are indoor dogs and they are not the guard of your house. But yes they are very nice and are very cute and you'll love playing with them.
